Mathematical sculptures of Bathsheba Grossman

Bathsheba Grossman is an artist in Santa Cruz, California who creates sculptures using CAD (computer-aided design) and three-dimensional modeling, with metal printing technology to produce a stainless steel / bronze sculpture. Her bronze sculptures are primarily mathematical in nature, often depicting intricate patterns or mathematical oddities(Squares for example has one side and three edges). Her website also has crystals that have been laser etched with 3 dimensional patterns, including a DNA and Milky Way model.

An indigenous group called the Mundurukú, who live in isolated villages in several Brazilian states in the Amazon jungles, have no words in their language for square, rectangle, triangle or any other geometric shape except circles. ..Yet, researchers have discovered, they appear to understand many principles of geometry as well as American children do, and in some cases almost as well as American adults.
